Saudi Absher National ID Photo Requirements

The Absher national ID renewal flow uses a 4:6 portrait proportion, a plain white background, and a recent colour photo. The uploaded file must be no larger than 1 MB and is checked automatically by Absher.

PhotoID can help capture and frame the portrait in the matching 2:3 proportion. It does not replace Absher's file-format checks or final acceptance decision.

Equivalent to a 2:3 portrait aspect ratio, not 640 x 480 pixels.

Prepare the 4:6 portrait in PhotoID

Use the Saudi Arabia ID Card preset as a framing and quality-review step before the official Absher upload.

  • Capture inside PhotoID with a white background and even front lighting.
  • Review face position, shadows, glare, and image clarity before export.
  • Check the exported file against Absher's current encoding and 1 MB requirements.

Capture the portrait inside PhotoID

Keep the phone at eye level and use PhotoID's built-in camera. Face the lens directly with a neutral expression and keep the white background free from shadows.

Official Absher upload rules

Saudi Arabia's National Platform describes the renewal flow: upload a new personal photo, let Absher check it automatically, and adjust the crop against the on-screen sample when needed. The Absher service conditions remain the final reference.

Saudi national ID photo FAQ

What proportion does an Absher national ID photo use?

Absher lists image dimensions in multiples of 4 by 6, which is a 2:3 portrait proportion. The PhotoID Saudi ID preset uses the same portrait proportion for framing.

Is 640 x 480 the correct Absher national ID format?

No. A 640 x 480 image has a 4:3 landscape proportion and does not match the official 4:6 portrait rule. The old PhotoID URL for that format now redirects to this page.

Does PhotoID guarantee that Absher will accept the file?

No. PhotoID can help with capture, portrait framing, background, lighting, and quality review. Absher performs the final automated compliance check and may also enforce file encoding and size requirements.

How recent should the photo be?

The official Absher conditions say the photo should have been taken within the previous 6 months and should reflect the applicant's current appearance.

Can I wear glasses in the photo?

The Absher conditions say glasses are not accepted. The eyes must be open and clearly visible without glare, reflections, shadows, or red-eye.
